Why don't we increase the salary of police officers equal to pro athletes? After all, most of us would say cops have more important jobs than a basketball player. In order to pay each police officer 2 million dollars, in a squad of 30 officers, the city would have to be taxed $60 million.

  1. Professional athletes are also get money from being sponsored by major companies such as Nike and Adidas. Police officers are not, but perhaps some smaller companies can sponsor police officers so that their salaries get increased some amount

  2. But, if public police (and anyone in the justice department) were sponsored by private companies wouldn't administers of justice be susceptible to more weakly enforcing laws against sponsors?

When should public goods (or services like police) by privatized?
