While researching my topic, I came across a interesting issue that stems off of the issue of whether or not athletes get paid too much. The issue is the large number and variety of athletes that are going broke just a couple of years after they retire. You have athletes like Michael Vick who has spent more than $30 million dollars on taxes and his past since filing for bankruptcy in 2008, and you also have athletes like Curt Schilling who have lost as much as $40 million dollars on bad investments and are now forced to find a way to get money to cover these investments. It is a very serious issue when you have athletes, who are among the highest paid people in the world, spending their career earnings just five years of retiring. What do you think of athletes going broke?
